A children’s stained glass discovery booklet created for the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Shrewsbury.
The Churches Conservation Trust commissioned us to write, illustrate and produce a children’s booklet to support engagement with the stained glass windows. The church is now the only complete medieval church in Shrewsbury. It’s home to a world-renowned collection of stained glass. No other church in the country has a collection to equal it.
Our illustrator, Matt Buckingham created a gorgeous selection of character illustrations to depict the characters for the stained glass designs. We worked with the project team and stakeholders to write and illustrate accessible content to capture attention and support accessible engagement.
Environmental sustainability has been an important element of the project. The booklet is printed in the UK on FSC-certified and fully recyclable paper. Furthermore, we created a set of matching boardbooks which can be used within the church time and time again.
