Teacher’s Information Pack

Nestled in the heart of Caithness, John O’Groats Mill stands as a testament to centuries of tradition, being the last operational watermill in the region. With a remarkable renovation that breathes new life into this historical gem, the mill is not just a glimpse into the past, but an active hub for learning and community engagement.

For nearly 1,000 years, milling has been integral to the fabric of this site, and its rich narrative is interwoven with local history. Recognising the immense educational potential of this landmark, our team had the privilege of developing a comprehensive Teacher’s Information Pack. This aims to celebrate and promote the mill as a dynamic learning environment. The pack encompasses a range of themes, from local history and wellbeing to mathematics and STEM, ensuring that educators can draw meaningful connections across disciplines.

We incorporated engaging activities designed to stimulate curiosity and foster hands-on learning experiences. Working closely with the dedicated team at John O’Groats Mill, we ensured that publication authentically reflected the brand and ethos of the mill. Our collaborative efforts resulted in a resource that not only highlights the mill’s historical significance but also ignites excitement about its educational opportunities.
